The Mists of Avalon

“And the mists had all solemnly risen now, and the world lay spread before me.” Charles Dickens

In high school, I was enthralled with all things England, and Arthurian legends. I would spend hours in bookstores pouring over books on the subject. Dreaming of the one day I would visit this magical land. I’d buy magazines on England, cut out images and tape them into scrape books (think pre-Pinterest) which I still have to this day. I remember reading a book called The Mists of Avalon that captivated me. The ancient stories, the magic and mystery.. took me somewhere else. To this day, that particular book left a lasting impression on me. Looking back at that time in my youth as well as watching my own children begin to dream their dreams, I realize that was the beginning of peering outside of my home life, looking towards another world that was possible. An independent life full of adventure, exploration, romance, risk and the excitement of the unknown.

On this particular day, the fog lingered until dusk. I ceased the opportunity to go out with my daughter Fefe and create images. I didn’t have a clear vision other than I wanted something that evoked mystery and magic. I feel Fefe and I pulled that off together.

The month of November, thick with fog.. some day, the sun illuminates the veil and the world glimmers. Other days, the fog mutes the landscape. I can remember foggy days, but it seems this went on longer than years past. Here are a few images captured throughout the month.
